People I'd love to see playing the Doctor- part 1 [repost]

since I apparently deleted the article by mistake- thankfully I still had the draft.

I haven’t really watched too much of Dr Who lately since I’m not really fond of Matt Smith’s interpretation of the Doctor. However, since I read that Neil Gaiman was writing an episode (and me being a total Gaiman geek), I’ve been trying to watch some of it, until the episode (called The Doctor’s Wife) came out. It’s one of the best (if not THE best) episodes I’ve ever seen.
However, what I was thinking today, since I’m not really that much of a Matt Smith fan, is who’d make a good Doctor once he leaves the show (I’m not saying he should do it NOW.)

Ben Barnes

I know some may consider him simply a pretty boy (which he is), and I have to admit I wasn’t immensely thrilled by his acting skills so far, but after seeing Killing Bono, I’m pretty sure he’d nail the part. Where the wardrobe part stands, I’d see him wearing jeans, red Converse shoes, black t-shirts with a bit of a rockish feeling to them and a black corduroy elbow-patched jacket. Longish hair, Dorian Gray style.

Bill Nighy

I’m fully aware that he’s older than the most recent Doctors have been but I loved the series when the actors playing the main part were older, too, and I think he’d make a fabulous Doctor. Imagine him, bit of a Billy Mack (aka his character in Love Actually) edge to it, dressed in a suit and for some reason having a pocket watch (funny, since he doesn’t need one). Just for the fun of it.

Matthew Goode

I know most people hated him as Ozymandias but I somehow can't stop loving his elegant, rather arrogant charm and his smooth silky voice. He'd probably make an incredibly aristocratic Doctor, and I see him dressed in a purple (although not THAT Adrian Veidt-purple) jacket, black jeans and wearing a big ring like the ones noblemen used to have their heraldic marks on. Not his dark-brown normal hair, but not the blonde Watchmen one either. Somewhere in between. Imagine the accent.

Matthew Gray Gubler

I know he's not British (well, Sylvester McCoy - who by the way will play Radagast in The Hobbit- is Scottish ), blasphemy of mine, but I'm pretty sure he'd be able to put up a decent accent and in the end he's talented and funny. I'm not really sure about how he'd look, I just see him donning some funky accessory like a hat or something. Hihi. Maybe a large leather jacket with somekind of sheep fur collar, aviator style.

Ian McKellen

Again, I know, older bloke, but come on, the guy is a brilliant actor and I'm sure he'd make a perfect Doctor as it is. He's one of the few actors who can pull of both Shakespeare and Marvel Comics, while being a perfect wizard and a scary ex-nazi (watch Apt Pupil, seriously). in the meanwhile. I could see him wearing something funky, like a beret of some sorts or maybe a red coat. He has a very special fashion sense IRL too so this could work out just fine. Imagine the accent, again *dreams*

Also, My friend Dan. He'd make a perfect Doctor. But that's just between me and him. :))
